Research Interests

Ali's research uses insights from the fields of decision psychology and behavioral economics to explore how information presentation impacts scenarios unique to medicine. Specifically, she examines how medical information can be presented to physicians and patients in a way they can use it. Just as the goals of information provision vary widely, her ongoing projects approach this topic in several unique settings, including transplant medicine and organ donation, novel HIV prevention methods, and lay understanding of vaccine efficacy rates. She applies tools from behavioral decision science such as empirical human subjects studies, qualitative interview methods, and large-scale data science techniques, which allow her to identify which behavioral variables are at play in decisions faced by both clinicians and patients. Education: Dual-degree BS in Neuroscience and Economics from The Ohio State University, MS in Behavioral Decision Research from Carnegie Mellon University, Expected PhD (Class of 2022) in Behavioral Decision Research from Carnegie Mellon University, Expected MD (Class of 2024) from University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine.
